Organiser: North Canterbury Basketball

Clubs and Associations from around the South Island compete in some awesome basketball over 3 days, held in Rangiora, North Canterbury. Grades include years 5 & 6, and 7 & 8. The year 7 & 8 grade has an A grade, and a development grade!

For 27 years, North Canterbury has hosted this major event, where South Island Clubs and Associations are invited to come together to compete for the championship title over a hard-fought three days. This is especially a great opportunity for primary school basketball players to test themselves against the best from around the South Island.

Grade Types:

  • Each grade will have a boys and girls section.
  • A Grade: The ‘A’ Grade is where the top Year 7&8 players compete against each other, with a lot of the players having already participated in local and regional representative teams.
  • Development Grade: The development grade is a great place for players relatively new to the game or for those wanting to compete in a less competitive grade. Clubs and Associations are welcome to enter more than one team in this grade. Last year three boy teams were in this grade.
  • Year 5 & 6: A great opportunity to give younger players their first taste at competing in a tournament and we look forward to seeing them running around and having fun whilst experiencing the thrill of their first South Island tournament.
