Being there for others can be as simple as calling for a chat, stopping by for a quick hello or getting together for a catch up.

That’s the message from  the I’ve Got Your Back campaign who launched their campaign at the Rangiora Winter Festival last Saturday.

We’ve Got Your BackThe Oxford Community Trust in partnership with their local community originally developed the “I’ve Got Your Back” campaign. The campaign is being rolled out across the district along with the philosophy of supporting new people to help them to feel welcome and settled in the Waimakariri.

The purpose is to create an understanding in the community that the Waimakariri population is changing, and becoming more diverse and this will continue as the district grows. They want migrants, refugees and Kiwis new to the district to know that there are people and support agencies here to help them feel welcome.

Emily Chapman from Oxford Community Trust says, “We want to raise awareness of the difficulties and challenges people face coming to live in a different country and area, and to let them know that they are in a community that will support them and help them with as many opportunities as possible.”
