The campaign to end plastic straws across New Zealand is heating up!
All across New Zealand new initiatives are being made to get rid of plastic straws:
Here is an update on the cafes and food establishments within North Canterbury that have embraced the Plastic Straw Free Campaign:
  • Fools of Desire in Rangiora
  • Reality Bites in Rangiora
  • Soda Cafe in Rangiora

  • Monteiths in Rangiora

  • Flat White in Pegasus

  • Urban Revival in Silverstream, Kaiapoi

  • Fusion cafe in Rangiora

  • Lemongrass in Loburn

  • The Station in Rangiora

  • Artisans Bakery in Rangiora

  • The Nor Wester Cafe in Amberley

  • The Blue Dairy in Amberley

  • Pocket full of spice in Rangiora

  • Paris for the Weekend in Kaiapoi

Rangiora also has a big win as McDonalds in Rangiora has removed automatically giving plastic straws on a trial basis. McDonald’s is also conducting this trial in Taupo. Your feedback and encouragement to end plastic straws can help McDonald’s consider removing plastic straws across the country.

Please support the above establishments with your patronage. If you know a cafe or establishment that isn’t in the above list, please encourage them to get rid of plastic straws next time you see them by saying “No straw please”.

Make sure to follow the Plastic Straw Free Rangiora facebook page for updates!

On another note, is it possible for 1 person to collect 10,000 pieces of litter from 1 New Zealand beach in 70 days? See for yourself:
