The Rangiora Airfield on Merton Road is owned and operated by the Waimakariri District Council with the assistance of the Rangiora Airfield Advisory Group

Way 2 Go Heliservices, The Canterbury Recreational Aircraft Club and Canterbury Aero club are options to help you fly in Rangiora.

The Canterbury Aero Club

The Canterbury Aero Club’s North Canterbury Branch is located at Rangiora Airfield. It operates during weekends and on demand at other times.

A clubhouse also operates for members.

The Club has a hangar at the field and BP Avgas is available.

Way 2 Go Heliservices

Way To Go Heliservices offer a range of commercial, agricultural & aerial transportation (including hunting & fishing) services by Helicopter throughout the South Island area.

They offer scenic helicopter tours of Christchurch and the Canterbury plains, take in breathtaking scenery and see secluded beaches, pristine lakes and rivers, snow-clad mountains and untouched native forests. They’re based right in Rangiora Airfield.

The Canterbury Recreational Aircraft Club

The Canterbury Recreational Aircraft Club can also assist you to reach the skies.

The club owns two Tecnam P92 Echoes, ZK-RGA and RGB. They also have access through their membership members for training in other 3-axis and weight-shift aircraft.

To fly their aircraft you need a Microlight Pilot Certificate (or a PPL/RPL as long as you belong to the RNZAC), to get started you can contact one of their instructors through their websites who can not only teach you how to fly, but can help you with minimal paperwork.
